Support From the Comfort of Home

Home hospice services provide care for patients while allowing them to stay in their house rather than requiring inpatient care at a hospital or other health institute. Similarly to palliative care, hospice care focuses on quality of life, helping to alleviate symptoms and making sure your loved one is comfortable. While palliative care can be provided at any stage of an illness or during curative treatment, hospice care is for patients who are not seeking curative treatment and who have entered their end-of-life journey.
The four levels of hospice care include routine home care, continuous home care, respite care and general inpatient care. Routine and continuous focus on providing assistance wherever a patient calls home, whether that’s a house, assisted living facility, nursing facility, or an Ohio hospital. Your loved one’s health and support needs will help determine which level of hospice care is right for them. At all stages of hospice, Queen City Hospice will offer a patient-focused experience as well as educate patients and family members on what to expect. Employees from our center are able to provide medicine, counseling, advice and more.
Routine Care
Routine is the most common level of hospice care. Your loved one can receive assistance up to seven days per week through scheduled visits as well as on-call visits. Frequent visits allow us to effectively manage the patient’s health and comfort and avoid potential crises.
Routine Hospice Care Services
Your loved one’s comfort is our top priority during routine visits, and allowing them to stay in a familiar environment can help improve their quality of living. Services provided during visits include managing comfort levels, providing medicine, offering medical attention, and more. It also includes palliative care like spiritual services and counseling. At Queen City Hospice, we make sure to staff our Southwest Ohio area program in a way that ensures we always have people available to attend to your loved one.

Continuous Care
Continuous care is beneficial when your loved one’s symptoms aren’t being controlled well enough through routine visits. With continuous care, patients receive temporary or short-term in-home attention. Nurses or nursing aids are available to be at the patient’s bedside for up to 24 hours per day, allowing our staff to monitor your loved one’s health and quickly react to changes.
Continuous Hospice Care Services
Continuous care gives patients and their families a more comfortable experience. Our nurses remain in contact with RN case managers and physicians to discuss and address your loved one’s health condition and changing needs. Continuous care services also include giving medicine, offering treatment, and more, as well as palliative care like spiritual support, counseling, and emotional support for patients and their families.
Benefits of In-Home Hospice
Home hospice care has many benefits for patients during their end-of-life journey as well as for the family members caring for them. It allows patients to stay in their Cincinnati house rather than an inpatient care facility, which for many is a more comfortable, relaxing environment than a hospital or other care center. Trained medical staff are available for up to 24 hours per day to ensure your loved one has the timely medical and emotional support they need, including any necessary medicine or counseling.
